High quality barrels made of oak (Quercus robur) Slavoński (Slavonian oak). Slavonia (chor. Slavonija) - a historical land in eastern Croatia, located in the intersection of Sava and Drawa. Slavonia occupies the southern edge of the Pannonian Basin. It consists of the wide valleys of Sawa and Drawa - Posawie and Podrawa, and the plain lying between them, from which rise the Pananic island mountains (the highest range - Papuk mountains, up to 953 m above sea level). Barrels from this oak have a very long history, especially in Italian wine-making.
Italian winemakers have had a long history of using Slavonian oak from the Quercus robur which is known for its tight grain, low aromatics and medium level tannins.
